The Olden Garden
A Community Garden in Highbury
THE GARDEN OF ABANDON
THE OLDEN COMMUNITY GARDEN, WHISTLER STREET HIGHBURY N5
SUNDAY the 8th JUNE at 2.00pm
The gardener, poet and broadcaster St.John Stephen takes time off from worms, weeds and BBC London to transform himself into his other persona as The Hanging Gardener of Babylon and, for the second year running, brings a day of poetry, bluegrass, acoustic guitar and spoken word of every variety to The Chelsea Fringe!!!
A hugely popular event last year – it promises, once again, to be a must-attend event for people in the area.
Set in the beautiful surroundings of The Olden Garden, one of Islington’s most magical community spaces, the line-up is truly spectacular:
SALENA GODDEN - one of the UK’s most sought-after poets, who has no less than two books out this year: An anthology of poetry: Fishing in The Aftermath and a long-awaited memoir: Springfield Road
FRAN LOCK - London’s most brilliant young talent with a new anthology that is a must-buy for this year: The Mystic and the Pig Thief
THE BUNDY BOYS – Perfect London-grown Bluegrass – and perfect for a summer’s Sunday
AND NO LESS THAN A DOZEN MORE PERFORMERS OF EVERY VARIETY TO PASS AWAY THE AFTERNOON WITH SEVERAL OPEN MIC SLOTS FOR THOSE WHO PASS BY AND WANT TO CONTRIBUTE TO THIS EXTRAORDINARY EVENT.
Not enough to tempt you? HOW ABOUT COCKTAILS, A BARBEQUE, TEA AND CAKES?
