The Olden Garden

A Community Garden in Highbury

For 25 years, the Olden Garden has been a two-acre oasis and retreat from the busy streets of Islington. It is a beautiful and productive garden and woodlands with a summer-house were all are welcome.

The Garden is looked after by volunteer Members and used by the wider community. Local schools, colleges and groups learn about horticulture, enjoy art classes, and host parent and toddler groups.

The Garden has a strong emphasis on sustainable, organic gardening and food production; with extensive water harvesting and compositing; and areas of natural habitat,

The Garden and summer-house are available to hire for private functions.

Please drop in and visit us on Volunteer Days (3rd Saturday of every month 10 am – 4 pm) . We would love to show your around our wonderful garden.

Volunteer Days

We have volunteer days once a month on the third Saturday of every month from 10am to 4pm where members can help out around the garden. there is always lots to do for all ages and abilities. Our lovely gardeners are also on hand to help. And we provide a delicious lunch in return for a modest donation. But we need all kinds of volunteers to help run (and fund!) the garden and to help the upkeep. email us to find out more.

Become a Member

Becoming a member is simple. Membership is open to everyone who lives in the London Borough of Islington. Annual membership costs £20 per household. Concession rates are available for unwaged. A one-off refundable £5 deposit is payable for a key to the garden.
